Mahindra-Thar-e-electric-concept-teaser
Mahindra and Mahindra has provided a glimpse of the Thar.e concept, an electric variant of the Thar. The Thar.e concept will be unveiled at the company's company 'Futurescape' event in Cape Town, South Africa on August 15.The platform details of the upcoming Thar.e concept are currently unknown. The Thar.e could be built on the same ladder-frame setup as its internal combustion engine (ICE) version as its ICE sibling or it can adopt a new dedicated EV platform that Mahindra is actively developing. While the monocoque layout offers reduced weight for improved range, the ladder-frame chassis allow higher load and towing capacities. On the design front, the Thar.e will feature an upright front fascia with clean horizontal lines and a rectangular blanked-off grille with squarish LED headlamps on either side. Similarly, the 'Born Electric' decals on the bodywork hint that the Thar.e will be based on a dedicated EV platform. The Thar.e concept will stay true to the Thar's off-road character. It will have a 4x4 set-up and a quad-motor system. The concept could also offer capabilities like 'crab steer' or 'crab walk' capability, where all four wheels will turn to a near-45-degree angle, allowing the SUV to roll sideways into tight parking spots, or even perform a 360-degree turn on the spot like the Hummer EV or even the upcoming electric G-Class prototype. The expected price, launch date, specs and features of the upcoming Thar.e concept are currently unknown. More details about the SUV will emerge on the day of its debut.
